Get Free AccessThe Blatter radical is applied in a cross-linked polymer to yield a stable and quickly chargeable electrode material for organic radical batteries. Different electrolytes are screened in cyclic voltammetry (CV) experiments and the material is utilized as a cathode material in coin cell experiments. It exhibits excellent rate capabilities of up to 60 C, where it keeps 48% of the capacity at 1 C. It is stable in cycling experiments of 5000 cycles with a capacity retention of 56% and 96% capacity retention after 1000 cycles. The performance of the electrodes is independent of the polymer loading between 20 and 60 wt%, making a high polymer loading possible. These results demonstrate a promising, stable cathode material for organic polymer batteries.
