Abstract
This article proposes an understanding of the video game Conan: Exiles, which, unlike most cultural artifacts of the same utility, presented a type of customization of avatars that differs from the common ones presented in electronic games. In Conan: Exiles the player could define the sexual attributes of his characters: the size of the breasts in women and the length of the penis in men. In this article, we focus on the implications that the customization of an avatar's penis can impact on players, as well as the influences of market logic and the customization of avatars can generate in a cultural artifact that is linked a character-symbol of virility that is Conan, the Barbarian. We conclude the article considering that not only market logic permeates this type of decision, but the activation of the pornographic imagination and symbolic construction of the role of genders in society also influence decisions like this.
