Extraction of 88Y, 152Eu, 228Ac, 241Am, and 244Cm with 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone (TTA) resin
Abstract
The behavior of Y-88, Eu-152, Ac-228, Am-241, and Cm-244 was studied with 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone resin with batch uptake, kinetics and column studies. Studies were performed in acetate buffer solutions (pH similar to 2 to similar to 6) and there was high uptake of all isotopes, except Ac-228, at pH > 4.5. The kinetics of uptake were reasonable, although slower for the actinides, and sufficient for column studies. The retention of Y-88, Eu-152, and Am-241 on the resin in column studies was demonstrated as well as a reasonable separation of these isotopes from Ac-228.
